Patient Records

I am required by The British Acupuncture Council to keep all (paper) treatment records for 7 years, after which they will be destroyed. They are stored on the premises at all times unless agreed otherwise. An example of this would be when you the patient requests in writing for a copy to be sent to another acupuncture practitioner. The filing cabinet is locked outside clinic hours.

On my death all outstanding patient files will become the property of The British Acupuncture Council in order to ensure they are dealt with appropriately.

Other Patient Data

Patient names and times of attendance are written in a paper diary (held at all times on the premises) which will be retained for 8 years then destroyed.

Conversations by email and text are kept on a separate password protected account accessible only by myself. As with paper files they will be deleted after 7 years has elapsed. No copies are left on my hard drive.

If you have previously consented to receive a monthly email newsletter, your name and email address will be stored at mailchimp.com within a password secured account accessible only by me. Each newsletter has a link at the bottom for you to update details, and also to unsubscribe.
